Revive Therapeutic Services: Revolutionizing Mental Health Support Landscape

Founded in 2021 by two sisters who are both mental health professionals, Revive Therapeutic Services was born out of a recognized and significant need for culturally sensitive mental health services in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

After graduating from their respective formal education and professional training, Abby and Akos Antwi sought to address a key component of the mental healthcare crisis: barriers that hinder people’s ability to seek, receive, and practice care. And these barriers are amplified for those in underserved communities.

Along with a host of other environmental factors, key barriers in underserved communities include: limited access to care, facilities, and services; affordability of care and services; an alarming underrepresentation of mental health professionals who share similar lived experiences; and mental health stigma in underserved communities & cultures.  Revive Therapeutic Services was founded to address all of these barriers.

Abby and Akos have worked to procure a dynamic, diverse team of therapists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists, all committed to providing high-quality, individualized mental health care to patients.  Now totaling some 60 practitioners, Revive Therapeutics offers services across no less than four states – Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maryland – and the enterprise continues to grow daily.

With the goal of offering a wide range of services paired with convenience for patients, Revive has a broad portfolio for patients that includes both Clinic and At-Home Services, Therapy, Medication Management, ADHD Testing, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Genesight Testing, and Wellness Workshops for individuals and families; all with flexible hours designed to meet patient’s modern-day scheduling needs.

How NEMIC Became Involved

In 2023, NEMIC launched a brand new program aimed at serving Minority and Women Business Enterprises [MBEs and WBEs] in Rhode Island.  Funded by Rhode Island Commerce, NEMIC’s EMPOWER program consists of two key parts: a mini-accelerator & technical assistance program and a lecture & events series. Founder Akos Antwi applied for and was accepted to the EMPOWER program, where Revive and 11 other awardees have received funding to grow their businesses further. Beginning in October of 2023, programming components for Revive’s EMPOWER support include Business and Strategic Advisory, Digital Marketing, and Operational Development.
