From Intern to Executive Director: A New Role for NEMIC’s Maey Petrie

NEMIC is thrilled to announce it has selected Maey Petrie to fill the organization’s newly formed Executive Director position.

Maey initially joined NEMIC six years ago as a marketing intern and has been making her mark ever since - demonstrating exceptional tenacity, curiosity, and work ethic. Her dedication to our mission and collaboration with entrepreneurs locally and globally has been outstanding. Maey's success in securing and executing multiple grants, along with her commitment to fostering a positive culture, has greatly benefited everyone within her sphere of influence.

Before her promotion, Maey served as Director of Programs and Business Development, shepherding key initiatives here at NEMIC, including the NEMIC Virtual Classroom and Med Tech Leadership Program, as well as EMPOWER, a program for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women Business Enterprises (WBE) entrepreneurs.

"The opportunity to work with entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and other industry stakeholders during my time at NEMIC has given me a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in this field. Helping healthcare startups bring to market new innovations that improve healthcare outcomes for patients is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work," Maey said. "I look toward the future with eager anticipation, knowing there will be many more opportunities that will help us fulfill NEMIC's mission of making a lasting impact in healthcare."

In her new role, Maey will focus on business development and positioning NEMIC for sustained growth, as well as building NEMIC’s team and supporting network.

As we embark on the next phase of NEMIC's journey, the appointment of Maey as Executive Director marks a pivotal moment in propelling our organization toward fulfilling its distinctive mission. Congratulations, Maey!
