Asthenis + Q2Behave accepted into ACTIVATE, a seed-funding preparation program supported by Rhode Island Commerce

Providence, RI, October 28th, 2020 - Two Rhode Island-based startups, Asthenis and Q2Behave, are awarded funding through the New England Medical Innovation Center’s (NEMIC) ACTIVATE Program.

ACTIVATE is a seed funding preparation program supported by Rhode Island Commerce. Through Activate, Rhode Island-based MedTech startups can apply to be awarded professional services valued between $15,000-$37,000 to fill gaps in their business plan in preparation for a successful round of fundraising.

Services include, but are not limited to: Market sizing, competitive landscaping, clinical needs assessments, clinical trial support, IP and regulatory pathways, business strategy, financing acumen, and similar activities.

Asthenis is a Rhode Island-based startup that combines public health with pharmacy. As a community resource for reliable health education outside of your doctor’s office, Asthenis offers prescription pickups, delivery, medication review, and reliable education to Providence’s underserved communities. Asthenis was Founded by Providence native, Dr. Eugenio Fernandez Jr.

Through ACTIVATE, NEMIC will support building out Asthenis’s business strategy and customer acquisition plans.

Q2Behave is a Rhode Island-based startup that is developing a wearable device intended to deliver positive reinforcement for desired behavior in children with ADHD. The venture was founded by Geanina Oana Costa, MD, MBA who registered the business after graduating from our 2019-2020 Med Tech Leadership Program.

Through ACTIVATE, NEMIC will coordinate product concept generation sessions, building out the IP and defensibility strategy, and support the clinical and market validation of the product.
