Women's Health + Entrepreneurship: Fundraising Strategy for the Female Founder

According to 2018 Halo Report, out of the total of 1,786 angel seed and series A funded projects, only 16% of founders and 14% of CEO’s are female. This is up from 13% aggregated in 2017. Many founders underestimate the importance of creating a clear fundraising strategy due to the pressure of running a business.

This round table discussion topics is designed to provide insights on which angel groups provide funding specifically for female founders, the female investors’ perspective on this gap, and the percent of female angel investors growth trends. Other key topics of this round table discussion will include:

• How to pitch to angles in a gender-diverse investor landscape

• Understanding how male and female founders raise capital

• What are essential skills necessary to raise capital?

• What are challenges women face when raising venture capital and how to overcome the challenges?

• What is the process and timeline of raising seed round with angels?

This round table discussion also addresses the specifics of what it means to raise a seed round and provide practical tips to apply to your own fundraising strategy.

The round table discussion will be moderated by Lydia Shin Schroter, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of NEMIC who has a background of being a serial entrepreneur and an active angel investor.

Panelists include Jennifer Rousseau, Director of Strategic Planning and New Venture Development at Chewsi Dental, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Delta Dental Rhode Island, and Ex-Executive Director of Cherrystone Angel Group.
